National King Prawn Cookery Competition

This event has a long tradition as it was held for the first time in 1964, although it acquired its current format in 2003. Renowned restaurants, represented by young Spanish chefs, participate in the contest, and a qualified jury evaluates the taste, presentation and originality of the culinary delights in which the king prawn is the main ingredient. A jury made up of restaurateurs and gastronomic journalists decides on the best three from among the dishes created, awarding their originators the relevant prizes. It takes place in the Municipal Market and the access is free for professionals and for the public. Some of the prestigious members of the jury have been: Carme Ruscalleda, Jordi Roca, Ricard Camarena, and Koldo Royo in the latest edition.
