Casa de la Vila
This 15th century Gothic-style building was restored in 2017. During the restoration process, several remarkable historic fresco paintings were discovered inside the building, as they are likely one of the oldest examples of the Vinaròs heraldic coat of arms.
Originally, the Casa de la Vila’s had direct access from the street through a stone staircase with a steep slope located outside. The house consisted of a small room with a wooden cabinet to keep the privileges, books and papers of the Council. This room was also used by the court system to hold hearings and was occasionally used as a jail to hold notable persons. The niche that still remains in the façade is dedicated to Saint Dominic and dates back to 1722. Likewise, we can also highlight the presence of a traditional window and the coat of arms of the Alós with a wing inside of a diamond shape on the façade.
