Holy Week

Declared a Regional Tourist Festival of Interest, the events of Vinaròs’ Holy Week start with the traditional Trobada de Bombos i Tambors in which bands from different towns from the provinces of Castellón, Tarragona, and Teruel participate.

The first of the processions is celebrated on Holy Wednesday at five o’clock in the morning. Popularly known as the Processó de la Matinada, this liturgical act was restarted a few years ago and dates back to a secular tradition.

At sunset on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, the streets of the historic centre of Vinaròs fill up with crowds who gather to admire the solemn processions of confraternities and their pasos, or religious floats, which display invaluable artistic and religious images taken from their respective churches and chapels. The last of the processions is the Processó de la Trobada on Easter Sunday.

The concerts and celebrations scheduled during these celebrations turn these religious festivals into exciting cultural events.
